Good operation of the turntable bearing cannot be achieved without the help of lubricating grease, and the quality of the grease can also affect the performance of the turntable bearing to a certain extent. In order to provide better performance during operation, lubricating grease is generally used for lubrication of the bearing, which can reduce the friction and temperature rise of the bearing during operation. If the grease is deteriorated, it will not only fail to play its relevant role, but also be more harmful to the use of the bearing. Today, we will talk about the methods of determining whether the lubricating grease of industrial turntable bearings has deteriorated.
Take two measuring cups, one of which contains the lubricating oil to be inspected, and the other is placed empty on the table. Lift the measuring cup filled with lubricating oil 30-40 cm away from the table and tilt it to let the lubricating oil slowly flow into the empty cup. Observe its flow situation. Good quality lubricating oil should flow slender, uniform, and continuous, if the oil flow is unstable, with large chunks flowing down from time to time, it means the lubricating oil has deteriorated.
Take a clean white filter paper, drop a few drops of oil onto the filter paper, and wait for the lubricating oil to leak out. If there is black powder on the surface and it feels rough to the touch, it indicates that there are many impurities in the lubricating oil. Good lubricating oil is dry and smooth to the touch and leaves a yellowish trace.
Rub the lubricating oil between the thumb and forefinger repeatedly. Good lubricating oil has lubricity, less debris, and no friction between the fingers, while oil with too many impurities feels rough between fingers and cannot be used anymore. It should be replaced with new lubricating oil.
Lift the lubricating oil with a screwdriver at a 45-degree angle to the horizontal. Observe the situation of the oil drop under light. Under the illumination, it can be clearly seen that the lubricating oil is good if there are no debris in the lubricating oil; otherwise, if there are too many debris, the lubricating oil should be replaced.
The above are the four methods for judging whether the lubricating grease of industrial turntable bearings has deteriorated. It is important to note that incompatible lubricants should never be mixed. If two incompatible lubricants are mixed, the viscosity will usually become soft, which may cause damage to the bearing due to easy loss of lubricating oil. If you do not know which type of lubricating grease the bearing originally used, you must thoroughly remove the old grease inside and outside the bearing before adding new grease.
